Judge Denies Ripple Executives’ Motions to Dismiss SEC Lawsuit

Analisa Torres, a judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, has denied Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s and co-founder Chris Larsen’s twin motions to dismiss the lawsuit that was brought against them by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in December 2020, delivering a blow to the individual defendants.

Here is a tweet from Brad Garlinghouse the CEO of Ripple.

I was following this case quite closely at the start via Jeremy Hogans youtube channel (Legal Briefs for anyone interested). Ripple had a plethora of evidence of working with regulators and continually seeking clarification. The fact this case was filed on Claytons last day before moving into work involving Ethereum poses many questions.

I’ve lost touch with the case now but it seemed at one stage like the SEC seen it as a cash grab via settlement but that Ripple may feel they can actually win the case. Who knows :man_shrugging:
